Dillon Samuelson: Thursday, Dec. 4 I’ll be attending two art openings: First at York College of Pennsylvania, where this semester’s graduating seniors will be presenting their final bodies of work as undergraduates, a visual representation of the skills they have built over their college careers. The show takes place in Wolf Hall from 5 – 7 p.m. and features students from both the Fine Art and Graphic Design majors of York College. More information here.
After that I’ll run downtown to YorkArts to catch the opening reception of their show “100 Under 100,” which runs from 6 – 8 p.m. and will feature over one hundred small works from both professional and recreational artists. The works are all priced under $100, and the variety of mediums and styles will be fun to see.
And then Friday is First Friday in downtown York. There are too many events going on to list, but be sure to come downtown and see the city come to life.

JJ Sheffer: I’ve been looking forward to seeing Tim Warfield at Wyndridge Farm in Dallastown this Sunday. Tim is a world-renowned musician from right here in York. He plays tenor sax, and Wyndridge is hosting him for two performances of Christmas music in their beautifully-restored barn.

Kelley Gibson: The girls and I will kick off the holiday season at York City’s Light up Night on Continental Square in downtown York on Friday at 5 p.m. Watching the tree lighting and a visit with Santa always gets us in the holiday spirit!

Lyn Bergdoll

Lynn Bergdoll: One of the most popular and beloved traditions this time of year is “The Nutcracker,” a two-act ballet, originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. I am very excited to attend this production presented by the Viktor Yeliohin International Ballet Academy, performing with the Donetsk Ballet Company of Ukraine. There are three public performances: Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Mennonite High School.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 717-517-9837, 717-201-1122, or emailing vynutcrackertickets@gmail.com. There will also be limited tickets available at the door.
